Break up the Knicks. We signed DaQuan Jeffries on Sunday, and if you’re unfamiliar with his game, you’re not alone. In all likelihood, we won’t get to see him play either. The NBA instituted a rule where teams have to carry 14 non-two-way players on their roster, which is why Jeffries is now your newest Knick.
He played at Oral Roberts (no, he wasn’t on that recent March Madness team) and transferred to Tulsa. He went undrafted in 2019, after being touted as a late second round pick lacking athleticism, but with some physicality and shooting upside. As you’ll see below, his shooting never materialized so he’s bounced around a few teams:

Let’s get to what he offers on the court. He’s a 6’5″ SG/SF who’s pretty big at 222 pounds. FiveThirtyEight has his player comps as that Reggie Bullock – Dorian Finney-Smith style, but he doesn’t shoot the three well so it’s tough to see what sort of role he’ll have. To summarize FTE’s analysis:
- He’s not much of play maker, but he doesn’t turn the ball over.
- He’s well below average on offense, but a lot of that comes from such low usage.
- He actually shoots the three ball a lot for his role, but isn’t good at it.
- He’s an average to above-average defender.
ESPN has him slotted in as our 4th SF, but we have so many guys between 6’4″ and 6’8″ that we’d probably shuffle around before we got to him (Evan Fournier, for example, might even get some minutes before him). But nonetheless, it doesn’t hurt to get an idea of him as player. Welcome to the Knicks, DaQuan.
